MIGRATION
125 stoneware vessels, nails, and bamboo rods, 2019
Installation Duration: third week of June to late August, 2019
Migration is a series of 125 handmade ceramic containers created by Emily Trespas. The vessels symbolize birds and botanicals; they are also rain gauges, markers of weather patterns and seasons. The installation invites visitors to consider the passing of time and the movement of nature. Trespas’s work is grounded in a practice of collecting, re-purposing, and re-interpreting. She is inspired by ideas of absence & presence, and our connections with the surrounding world. Recently her obsession with ceramics grew to not only include the materials' utilitarian uses in our daily lives but also its sculptural potential.

Information About The Exhibit: Art Along the Trails is an outdoor art exhibition along the Andover Village Improvement Society (AVIS) properties and trails in celebration of 125 years. AVIS preserves wildlife habitats and water resources while providing free access to hills, woods and waterways for Andover residents and visitors. Art and nature bring beauty into our lives, inspire us with wonder and curiosity and spark our imaginations and creativity. By sharing our creativity with each other in the natural environment, we honor the gifts we receive from it. Organized by AVIS and Andover Arts and Cultural Alliance (AACA). Fun Fact: Since 2007 Emily Trespas continues to volunteer as A.V.I.S. Warden for Stanley Reservation. |
