it all started in a darkroom. . .
In my visual studies classes I've taught students about light and "the frame" while using Holga, pinhole, and digital cameras. With photograms students also become aware of texture, shape, light, and composition. To introduce them to the wet/silver photography process, we begin by constructing photograms. Frequently building compositions through found materials and cut paper to explore value, balance, negative/positive shapes. To illustrate emphasis and content, I raided my sticker collection to complete my in-class demonstrations (2012).
All photograms are approximately 4 x 6 inches on glossy paper.
